Assad Advisor stresses Syrian-Iranian strong relations

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Bouthaina Shaaban, the Special Advisor to the Syrian Presidency, visited on Saturday evening the Iranian capital, Tehran, to confirm the strong relations between the two countries.

The official visit was announced in a statement the day before yesterday to affirm Syria’s participation in the First International Congress for the Women of Influence, according to the state-run SANA News Agency.

Shaaban’s visit came to represent Asma al-Assad in the congress.

This feminist congress is kicking off in a time when Iran is witnessing unprecedented and even unexpected protests against the women’s rights’ violations since September 2022, over the death of the Kurdish girl, Mahsa Amini, who was allegedly killed by morality police in Tehran.

In her meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister, she said that relations between Syria and Iran are “strategic and have various dimensions” and they are progressing in all different sectors.

Shaaban considered the relations between the two countries as “special”, stressing the necessity of reconsidering all different sectors, especially “culture and collaboration in feminist sectors between the two countries.”
