Iraq concerned about ISIS camps in Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Iraqi Foreign Affairs Minister, Fouad Hussein, expressed his concern about the threat posed by camps containing former militants and families of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria.
The remarks were made on the sidelines of the Davos conference held in Switzerland.
“There are some threats and challenges surrounding the survival of the camps in Syria, especially the areas near the Iraqi borders, in which ISIS terrorist groups are active. It is a source of concern for the Iraqi government,” Hussein explained.
The Iraqi minister also focused on security problems, pointing out that “there are some problems with Turkey and Iran regarding the issue of the attacks that have affected the territory of Iraq, which were conducted under the pretext of the presence of some armed organizations that threaten the security in the regions of neighboring countries.”
“Iraq is against any kind of war,” he said, stressing that “the language of dialogue is the only solution to the problems that must be solved from within the neighboring countries themselves, and some of them by the Iraqi government.”
