Turkey threatens to hit Greece with home-made missiles

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened on Sunday to hit the Greek capital with missiles that are developed at home unless “you stay calm.”

In his speech from the Turkish city of Samsun, Erdogan said, “Now we have started to make our own missiles…Tayfun….this production scares the Greeks.”

Tayfun is a short-range ballistic missile developed by Turkey.

Turkey has escalated against Greece in recent months amid what Ankara sees as a growing military buildup on the Greek Aegean islands, close to Turkey’s coastline.

“We can come down suddenly one night when the time comes,” Erdogan said.

Despite being NATO allies, the two countries have been at odds for decades over a number of bilateral disputes, including maritime boundaries, overlapping claims to their continental shelves, and the long-running Cyprus dispute.
