ISIS claims responsibility for IED explosion in Syria’s Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed an IED explosion which took place a day earlier in the city of Raqqa, north Syria.

ISIS-affiliated Amaq News Agency reported the group’s militants targeted a military vehicle with an IED close to the Souq al-Haal in the city of Raqqa.

Amaq claimed two military personnel lost their lives while the vehicle was destroyed.

Last night, an IED blew up in the South Cornish close to Souq al-Haal.

A source within the Internal Security Forces of North and East (Asayish) told North Press, “The explosion left no damage.”

General Command of the Asayish stated “ISIS’s cells have intensified their moves in the region since Turkey had launched its attacks on north and northeast Syria on November 20.”

Ten militants in an ISIS cell were arrested by the Asayish in a compact operation in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

On November 22, the radical group claimed it killed a fighter of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the town of Busayrah in east Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF announced on the same day that it suspended its operation against the group due to its preoccupation with Turkish attacks on the region.
