Rights organization documents killing of 326 People in Iran protests
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Iran Human Rights, a nonprofit non-governmental organization, revealed Saturday that 326 people have been killed since the outbreak of Iran protests
On September 16, Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini died at the hands of country’s morality police while being in their custody, sparking nation-wide protests.
The organization said in a statement on its website, “At least 326 people including 43 children and 25 women have been killed by security forces in the ongoing nationwide protests.”
The largest toll took place in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan in southeast Iran, adjacent to Pakistan, with more 123 killings, according to the organization.
On September 30, more than 90 people were killed in Zahedan in what activists called the “bloody Friday.”
Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, the organization’s director, called on the international community to aim at ending repression in Iran “establishing an international investigation and accountability mechanism.
