Civilian killed in Syria’s Daraa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – A person was shot dead on Sunday by unidentified gunmen in a village in the countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press, “Unknown attackers opened fire on the called Marwan Ahmed al-Obli in the village of Ain Thakar in the western countryside of Daraa.”
“Al-Obli was severely wounded and was hospitalized to Nawa National Hospital, western countryside of Daraa, as he died there.” The source said.
Al-Obli hails from the village of Ain al-Qadi in the southern countryside of Quneitra Governorate, the source said.
The source continued, “Al-Obli worked as a Minibus driver, and there were different accounts of whether he was accused of dealing with Lebanese Hezbollah or not.”
“He was subjected to an assassination attempt in the city of Nawa, but he survived it,” the source added.
Since the government forces re-captured Daraa in 2018, the governorate has been living in a state of insecurity, with assassinations, arrests and thefts taking place on a daily basis, amid the government’s failure to hold it under control.
