2 AANES officials killed in Turkish drone strike in Syria’s Qamishli

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) Two officials of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) were killed on Tuesday in a Turkish drone strike of a car in the eastern countryside of Qamishli, northeastern Syria.

The AANES Executive Council said, Each of Zaynab Sarokhan and Yilmaz Rasho, the co-chairs of the AANES Justice and Reform Office, lost their lives in the Turkish drone strike.

“Sarokhan and Rasho were doing a regular check on the centers affiliated with their office,” the council added.

Sarokhan served as the head of the AANES Women Board for years, before moving to her new office.

Earlier today, local sources present at the targeted site told North Press that a Turkish drone struck a car at the turn-off of the village of Deir Jamal near the town of al-Qahtaniya in the eastern countryside of Qamishli.

In addition, Turkish forces shelled Tuesday afternoon the town of Zirgan (Abu Rasin), north of Hasakah Governorate, killing two people and wounding four others.
