Syrian government increases deployment in Kobani, Ain Issa – newspaper

DAMASCUCS, Syria (North Press) – Pro-government al-Watan newspaper said on Tuesday that Syrian government forces reinforced its deployment in the countryside of Kobani, northeast of Aleppo, and Ain Issa, north of Raqqa.

This came after a Turkish shelling targeted the government’s forces posts in Kobani two days ago.

On September 18, the Turkish forces launched eight air raids targeted Syrian government posts, east of Kobani.

Three Syrian government soldiers were killed in the bombardment that targeted the village of Jishan, 25 km east of Kobani.

Al-Watan added that the Syrian government convoy headed from Tabqa military airport, west of Raqqa, to the contact lines.

The contact lines separate the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, known as Syria National Army (SNA) in the countryside of Tel Abyad, which has been occupied by Turkey since October 2019 following a military operation called “Peace Spring”.

The military convoy included tanks, rocket launchers, military vehicles, and fuel tankers which were stationed in the vicinity of Ain Issa town, according to the newspaper.
