KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Two new departments would be opened in the academic year of 2022-2023, the Institute of Accountability and that of Computer, an official in the University of Kobani said on Monday.
Students at both institutes would graduate after two years and a half, according to Shervan Muslim, Co-chair of the University of Kobani.
Already, the University of Kobani has Humanities College with Kurdish and Arabic literatures, Sciences College which includes Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Education College (Teachers’ sections), Institute of Education Sciences including English, Biology and Geography.
Muslim told North Press the accommodating space of the university would rise to 600 students who passed the secondary stage of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), both literary and scientific.
Seven hundred and fifty students passed the secondary school in the Euphrates region in 2022.
Last year, the Education Sciences Institute was opened, including Geography, English, Teacher’s Section, Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
Muslim indicated they have contacted a number of doctors and Masters from all Syrian governorates to teach in the university.
He added the university has ended preparedness to receive students, and that within days, “the university admission lists will be declared on official accounts of the university.”
The academic year commences on October 1 for old students and a week later for the newly admitted ones.
Students in the Euphrates region have the right to apply to institutes and colleges in three universities in north and east Syria, “Kobani, the Orient and Rojava.”
The university of Kobani was opened on September 30, 2017. Then it had two colleges: the College of Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and the College of Humanities (Kurdish Language and Literature).
Last year, the first batch of the Kobani Students graduated, including 32 students represented the Kurdish Literature, Physics and Chemistry.
