ISIS claims attack killed 6 SDF fighters in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility on Sunday evening for an attack that killed six members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
Earlier on Sunday, a military source of the SDF told North Press, “Unidentified gunmen, likely affiliated with ISIS, shot and killed six SDF members while they were heading to the city of Hasakah to spend their furlough.”
ISIS-run Amaq News Agency published a photo with a caption saying, “A photo of the six members killed by the Islamic State’s fire north of Deir ez-Zor.”
Although the SDF launches intensive security operations, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor continues to witness assassinations targeting SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration, tribal figures and civilian residents.
Since the beginning of 2022, ISIS has claimed about 130 operations against the SDF, the majority of which are in Deir ez-Zor.
