Four women found existed in chain, tortured in Hawl camp
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Media Center of Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), a main pillar of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), published a video clip showing four women existed in chain and tortured in Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah Governorate in eastern Syria.
The video shows an inspection of a women’s unit and finding shackled women in one of the tents in the camp.
This came within the continuation of the second phase of the “Humanity and Security” Operation in the camp which has been launched for two weeks.
The Media Center of the SDF said that in coordination between the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and the YPJ, an investigation began to find out those involved in torturing the women.
On August 25, the Asayish announced launching the second phase of Operation “Humanity and Security” in Hawl Camp to pursue the ISIS sleeper cells.
The first phase was launched in 2021 in response to calls of community and tribal leaders in Hawl countryside to reduce crimes at the camp.
The video showed two women from Iraq, with marks of injuries similar to those caused by sharp blades.
Hawl camp houses about 29.000 Iraqis at a rate of half the population, according to statistics of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The video shows one of the women covered and shrunk on her. When she got up, her hand appears covered with gauze, which was hiding wounds.
Hawl Camp, 45 km east of the city of Hasakah, is a house for 55.829 individuals, including 28.725 Iraqis, 18.850 Syrians and 8.254 of foreign nationalities, according to the latest statistics obtained by North Press.
The camp witnesses murders with different methods, most notably firearms. The management of the camp fears that the latest Turkish threats of invading areas in northern Syria would pave the way for ISIS to reorganize its ranks; North Press cited a statement by the management as saying.
