Government forces raid a town in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Violent clashes with machine guns erupted on Monday when Syrian government forces raided the house of a wanted in the town of al-Yadudah, in the western countryside of Daraa Governorate, southern Syria.

An exclusive source told North Press that the clashes resulted in the injury of the wanted, Abu Qassem al-Aqrabawi, who got arrested during his attempt to run away after being injured.

Local gunmen from the town blocked several roads, the source added.

An armed group affiliated with Military Intelligence of the government forces, led by Mustafa Al-Masalmah also known as al-Kasam, raid the house of al-Aqrabawi, one of the wanted personnel in the town, according to the same source.  

Violent clashes between the government forces and the gunmen of the town went on for more than half an hour, where heavy machine guns and RPG-7 missiles were used in the clash.

It caused a state of fear and horror among the residents.

Al-Kasam is a former armed opposition faction leader. He joined the military security branch in 2018, becoming one of its well-known leaders in Daraa.

A military force consisted of nine cars and armed vehicles led by al-Kasam and colonel general Louay al-Ali, head of Military Intelligence Branch of the government forces, raided, on July 22, a number of houses in the town of al-Yadudah looking for wanted personnel in the western countryside of Daraa.
