8 ISIS members killed in Iraqi airstrikes north country
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Eight members of the Islamic State (ISIS) were killed on Thursday in airstrikes carried out by the Iraqi Air Force on the terrorist group’s hideouts in Nineveh Governorate, northern Iraq.
The Iraqi Security Media Cell (SMC) announced that Iraqi F-16 fighter jets conducted two airstrikes, targeting a cave in the Adayah mountain range, west of Nineveh.
After patrols of the 15th Infantry Division searched the site, they found eight members killed in the air raids, according to the SMC statement.
On Monday, two members of Saraya al-Salam, an armed formation of the Shiite Popular Mobilization Forces, were killed in an attack by ISIS in Saladin Governorate.
Last week, the Iraqi forces launched the fourth campaign of Operation Solid Will, in collaboration with the Peshmerga forces, to pursue the remnants of ISIS. The campaign focused on Makhmur area, east of Mosul, specifically on Mount Qarachogh.
