Missile attack targets Turkish consulate in Iraq’s Mosul
ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – A missile attack targeted on Wednesday dawn the Consulate of Turkey in Mosul, northwestern Iraq.
Several missiles hit the vicinity of the consulate, where some vehicles were damaged, a military source told North Press.
The source said that the attack caused no casualties.
The attack comes after the Iraqi government asserted that Turkey was responsible for the shelling that killed at least nine people and wounded some 23 others in a resort area in Duhok Governorate on July 20.
The Turkish shelling was condemned in “the strongest terms” by the US Security Council.
On July 21, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander in Chief, Mazloum Abdi, expressed his solidarity with the families of the victims.
Abdi said, “We, with great sadness, received the news of the Turkish shelling on a tourist resort in the city of Zakho which claims the lives of civilians.”
The Council urged all member states to cooperate actively with the Government of Iraq and all other relevant authorities “in support of these investigations.”
