Syria’s Autonomous Administration condemns Turkish attack on KRI
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) condemned, in a statement, Turkish missile attack on a resort in Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) that claimed lives of nine individuals and wounded more others.
On Wednesday, nine individuals lost their lives and about 23 others were wounded in the Turkish missile attack that hit Barakh resort in the Zakho district in the Duhok Governorate in the KRI.
The AANES’ statement said, “Turkey’s policy in committing massacres is in an advanced stage.”
The Autonomous Administration was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) defeated ISIS militarily.
Turkey’s policy and its persistent shelling of the KRI and areas of northeast Syria is a developed stage of extermination that it follows, the statement read.
It added that the continuous silence regarding Turkey’s practices in the region will encourages it to commit more hostile practices and aggressive violation.
“Turkey invest conditions in the region to destabilize security to fulfil its goals in favour of its political and expansionist interests,” the statement said.
The AANES demanded that the KRI and Iraqi government, as well as political parties and societal events in northeast Syria take firm and clear stance to stop these practices and the continues shelling of the region and deter policies followed by Turkey.
