Two SDF fighters lose life in armed attack in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, two fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) lost their lives in an unidentified attack in a town east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

A military source of the SDF in the town of al-Busayrah, 35 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor, said, “Unidentified attackers, who were riding a motorcycle, shot dead each of the 27-year-old Muhammad al-Saleh and the 30-year-old Ibrahim al-Besais near a public park in the center of the town.

Al-Saleh and al-Besais are members of Deir ez-Zor Military Council which is affiliated with the SDF, according to the source.

The source stressed that the two members were on a leave, as he cited eyewitnesses as saying that the attackers were masked armed men, who were dressing in Islamic State Organization (ISIS) style.

Recently, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing a spike in assassinations which target members of the SDF, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal leaders and civilians, despite intensive security operations conducted by the SDF.

On June 8, the SDF arrested an individual in the town of al-Shuhail, 40 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor on charges of belonging to ISIS.
