SDF arrests ISIS suspect in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested a wanted person on charges of belonging to the Islamic State Organization (ISIS), in the town of Shuhail, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

An SDF patrol raided on Wednesday at dawn the house of Ibrahim al-Fanash in the center of the town on charges of belonging to ISIS, a military source in the SDF told North Press.

The forces arrested the suspect and confiscated a Kalashnikov and a mobile phone in his possession, the source added.

The operation was launched based on intelligence information, after the suspect has been pursued for several days, according to the source.

Although the SDF, in cooperation with the US-led Global Coalition, launches intensive security operations in the region, the countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently witnessed an increase in killing incidents, targeting the SDF members, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, tribal leaders and civil residents.
