Residents fear murders’ return in HTS-held areas in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Two individuals were killed late on Friday by unidentified attackers in the town of al-Fu’ah east of Idlib governorate, northwest Syria.

This alarms that murders may return to the areas held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front), a source from the region said.

Two unidentified individuals, who were riding a motorcycle, opened fire on two individuals while they were walking on a route links between the village of Kafarya and al-Fu’ah east of Idlib.

In the shooting, Muhammad Sayyah, an IDP hailed from the village of Khan al-Subul east of Idlib, and Abu Ayham al-Halabi, who operated in real estate in favor of Uzbek group that is affiliated with HTS, were killed, the source added.

Post-2012, dozens of Uzbek jihadis entered Syrian territories and joined the ranks of Islamic factions to participate in the military operations against Syrian government forces.

On May 16, a group of armed robberies shot dead a civilian while banning the group from stealing his sheep near the city of Harem in the northwestern countryside of Idlib.
