Turkish bombardment wounds Syriac Christian SDF fighter in Syria’s Tel Tamr

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, a fighter of the Syriac Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was wounded due to Turkish bombardment of a village near Tel Tamr, northeast Syria.

In a statement on its official Facebook website, the council said that one of its fighters was wounded in the Turkish bombardment on the village of Dardara in the countryside of the town of Tel Tamr.

On Friday, Turkish forces hit the village of Dardara north of Tel Tamr with a barrage of shells, causing material losses to civilians’ possessions.

The council did not mention any details about the extent of the injury or to which hospital the wounded fighter was transferred.

For two successive days, the villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr have been undergone intensive bombardment by Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed Syrian opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The bombardment coincided with flight of Turkish drones over the region, a source of Tel Tamr Military Council told North Press.

The Syrian government forces downed on Friday a drone belonging to the Turkish forces over a village in the western countryside of Kobani, north Syria.

Following the Turkish “Peace Spring” military operation in October 2019, which resulted in the occupation of the two cities of Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.

The agreements stipulate halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the SDF 30 km in depth away from the Turkish border in addition to conducting Turkish-Russian joint patrols in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.
