Turkish forces shell Syria’s Raqqa countryside
AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish forces and their affiliated opposition (SNA) factions bombed on Tuesday several villages in the countryside of Ain Issa town, north of Raqqa governorate, with heavy weapons.
The Turkish forces bombed the villages of al-Shirkarak, Mu’allaq, Jabal, Fatsa, Skairo, Ain Issa camp and the M4 highway, in the countryside of Ain Issa town, a local source told North Press.
The countryside of Ain Issa has been bombed (though sporadically) since one p.m with Several mortar and artillery shells by the Turkish bases in the adjacent villages in Syria.
The bombing resulted in material damage to the residents’ property. It also caused a state of panic among the residents of the nearby villages.
Areas in the countryside of Tel Abyad and Ain Issa in addition to others in northeast Syria are subjected to ongoing shelling launched by the Turkish forces and the affiliated factions despite the signed ceasefire agreements there.
Following the Turkish Peace Spring military operation in Oct. 2019, Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements one was with Russia and the other was with the US.
The agreements stipulate halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) 30 kilometers in depth away from the Turkish border in addition to conducting joint patrol with Russia in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.
