Iraq Announces Complete Elimination of ISIS South of Mosul
ERBIL, Syria (North Press) – Iraqi Forces General Command announced on Tuesday the complete elimination of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) from south of Mosul, which ISIS referred to it as “Tigirs Province” back when it controlled the region.
The spokesman of the Iraqi General Command, Yahya Rasool, said in a press conference that the so called “Tigris Province” had been completely eliminated, and “43 members had been killed in a special operation carried out by the Iraqi Counter Tourism Service.”
“What is left of ISIS in Iraq are some sleeper cells who are stationed in the harsh desert areas,” Rasool noted.
Rasool stressed that the special operations would continue, noting that the General Command would adopt the military principle of attack and continue to pursue, “because our battle is an intelligence one.”
In the same context, the Iraqi Media Security Cell announced on Tuesday the killing of two ISIS members in a pit in Tarmiyah, a city north of Baghdad. One of them was a suicide bomber who exploded himself, killing an Iraqi soldier and wounding an officer.
Earlier today, a security source of al-Anbar told North Press that an ISIS assault killed two Iraqi soldiers and wounded two others.
