Government forces raid Syria’s Daraa countryside

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Syrian government forces raided on civilians’ houses the eastern countryside of Daraa, south Syria.

Security patrols affiliated with the Military Intelligence and Air Intelligence branches, supported by Brigade 52 of the government forces, raided some civilians’ houses in the city of al-Hirak looking for the wanted persons,” local sources told North Press.

The government forces raided the residential neighborhoods, southern the city,” the sources said.

“They raid came on the back of burning down the pictures of the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad in front of the municipality building in al-Harak city, yesterday,” the media activist Habib Kasabera told North Press.

“The Brigade 52, east of al-Hirak, witnessed alert and the entry of military reinforcement,” he added. 

Kasabera pointed out that the security branches of the government forces arrested six people of Bedouins tribes, who live in the eastern countryside of Daraa. 

Al-Hirak resident are in panic and worried of the security situation, following the raids, according to media activist. 

On February 23, a young man called Ammar Abu Safi, 22, was killed by unknown assailants riding a motorcycle in the city of al-Hirak.

Despite the entire control of the Syrian government on Daraa and the reconciliation it made with the residents, the governorate witnesses unrest and security chaos where arrests, assassinations, and killings have sharply increased.
