SDF posts in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor subjected to two separate attacks

DEIR EZ-ZOR, SYRIA (North Press) – Unknown armed individuals targeted, on Saturday, a checkpoint and a military headquarters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), east of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria, in two separate attacks.

The armed attackers fired two missiles at al-Omar water station in the center of Latwa neighborhood where SDF fighters are stationed, a military source of the SDF in Diban town, 50 km east of Deir ez-Zor, said.

“No wounded were reported among SDF fighters, only material losses were reported,” the source that was present inside the targeted station, added.

The attack coincided with another armed attack by unknown individuals against a checkpoint of the SDF in the center of Suwaidan town, 75 km east of Deir ez-Zor.

The unknown attackers hit the SDF checkpoint in the center of a market in the town with machineguns which resulted in slight clashes reporting no wounded among the SDF fighters, a military source of SDF said.

Recently, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing an increase in cases of killing and targeting of SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal dignitaries and civilians, most of which have been claimed by ISIS.

Yesterday, the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) claimed responsibility, through close media outlets, for three attacks against military posts of the SDF in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The increasing operations of ISIS coincided with a jailbreak operation by ISIS sleeper cells on al-Sina’a prison in Guweiran neighborhood in Hasakah city in an attempt to release their ISIS fellow detained there.
