No causality, wounded reported in ISIS attacks in Deir ez-Zor, SDF
DEIR EZ-ZOR – Syria (North Press) – A military source of the Syrian Democratic forces (SDF) denied, on Saturday, reporting any causalities or wounded in three shooting incidents carried out by armed individuals affiliated with the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) against their checkpoints in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
ISIS claimed, yesterday, responsibility for targeting SDF military checkpoints in Deir ez-Zor.
ISIS claimed responsibility, through close media outlets, for two attacks against SDF in the towns of al-Keber, 70 km west of Deir ez-Zor, and Diban, 50 km east of Deir ez-Zor.
Armed individuals, who were driving a civil car, carried out a hit-and-run operation against a military post in the center of Diban town, a military source of SDF told North Press.
“We also fired them, but they managed to flee reporting no wounded among members of the military post,” the source added.
Meanwhile, al-Keber town witnessed a similar incident by armed attackers who targeted a military checkpoint in al-Keber town and another one in al-Harmoshiya village, western Deir ez-Zor countryside, reporting no wounded, the source noted.
The source stressed that there are parties try to promote the ISIS revival in Deir ez-Zor in conjunction with the latest military and security developments in the vicinity of al-Sina’a prison in Guweiran neighborhood in Hasakah, northeast Syria.
The SDF takes all necessary measures and is ready to encounter any possible attack on their checkpoints in Deir ez-Zor, the source said.
Recently, the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing an increase in cases of killing and targeting of SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal dignitaries and civilians, most of which have been claimed by ISIS.
On January 3, ISIS claimed responsibility, through media outlets close to it, for targeting a checkpoint of the SDF in Abu Hamam town, east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
