SDF continues countering escape attempts by ISIS prisoners in Syria’s Hasakah

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are still dealing with other mass escape attempts by militants of the Islamic State Organization (ISIS) detained in a prison in al- Sina’a prison in Ghweiran neighborhood in Hasakah, northeast Syria, SDF Media Center said, on Friday.

The center said their Forces have been countering another mass escape attempt by ISIS prisoners from Ghweiran prison.

SDF forces have cordoned off a big group of mercenaries who tried to escape from the prison, the center added.

The ISIS sleeper cells, which turned the civilians houses in al-Zohour neighborhood into trenches, have intensively fired in an attempt to direct a message of hope to the ISIS detainees inside the prison, according to the center.

The SDF Media Center noted that their forces, during the early hours on Friday, killed five attackers including a Chinese mercenary.

The SDF managed to thwart the escape attempt and arrested 89 mercenaries in the vicinity of the prison.

The center stressed that clashes are still ongoing in the surrounding area of the prison.
