Covid-19 lab in Syria’s Qamishli resumes working

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The coronavirus testing laboratory in Qamishli city, northeast Syria, will resume its work starting from today after securing the necessary items, Muhammad Khaled, manager of the laboratory said on Thursday.

The coronavirus testing laboratory in Qamishli has been out of service for more than a month due to the lack of medical materials needed for its work, Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board earlier said.

There is a central lab in northeast Syria which lies in the city of Qamishli, where all tests from all over AANES-held areas are sent to.

The lab has received the slices of coronavirus testing and extraction items, and that they have started taking swabs, according to Khaled.

“But the quantity is little and does not meet the region’s need,” he added.

Since November 10, the AANES has not announced the statistics of Covid-19 infections or deaths.
