Iran and IAEA reach good nuclear agreement
ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – On Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian revealed that his country arrived at a good agreement last night with the IAEA.
“The arrangement eliminates some of the concerns of the agency and in turn allows us to continue our cooperation at a higher level than before and in the framework of the requirements,” Amir-Abdollahian said.
“Diplomacy is a two-way street. If there is real will to remedy the culprit’s wrongdoing, the way for a quick good deal will be paved,” Iranian lead negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani said yesterday.
Bagheri added that the main priority and focus of the Vienna talks for his country was the removal of US sanctions.
The Iranian delegation went through six rounds of talks in Vienna, in which the two sides reached a number of drafts, including two ones on lifting sanctions in addition to Iran’s nuclear program, according to Bagheri.
The talks, however, stopped in June, and Bagheri attributed this to the elections that took place in his country, saying “it is normal for the new Iranian government (after the election of a president) to study the amendments and drafts that were reached in Vienna on June 20 of this year.”
Meetings are still underway between Iran and representatives of the six countries (the United States, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany) to resolve these difference after the points of contention between the two parties have been resolved, according to the Iranian official.
“Good progress has been made since a few days at the start of these meetings,” according to Bagheri.
