Turkey bombs Syrian government’s positions in Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Turkish forces and their affiliated Syrian armed opposition factions bombed positions of the Syrian government forces in Idlib countryside, northwest Syria with heavy artillery shells and missiles.
The Turkish forces deployed in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, targeted the positions of the government forces in the town of Kafr Battikh, southeast of Idlib, with surface-to-surface missiles, North Press reported military sources of the opposition.
The Turkish bombardment directly targeted military checkpoints of the government forces in the aforementioned town, without reports about losses.
In a related context, the government forces in the town of Kafr Nabl bombed the positions of the armed factions in the villages and towns of Mantef, Ma’arblit, Sfuhen and Majdaliya in Zawiya Mountain with Russian Krasnopol shells and missiles.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
