New round of Astana Peace Talk on Syria yet not confirmed
KAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The new round of talks by foreign ministers of the guarantor states of the Astana Peace Talk [Russia, Turkey and Iran], has not yet been confirmed, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Mukhtar Tileuberdi, announced on Friday
In a statement, Tileuberdi said that the meeting of the foreign ministers of the guarantor countries for the talks on Syria has not been confirmed yet, and so far it is scheduled to take place at the usual level, Syrian State news agency SANA reported.
“The Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, Geir Pedersen, has not yet confirmed his participation in the meeting in Nur-Sultan, but it is likely that he will attend,” Tileuberdi added.
In early 2017, the Astana Peace Talks began in the Kazakh capital, and 16 meetings were held, one of them in the Russian city of Sochi.
