Mekdad’s visit to Tehran coincides with UAE official’s visit
ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian met on Monday with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mekdad at the Foreign Ministry building in the capital, Tehran.
Mekdad, who arrived in Tehran last night, is scheduled to meet with other senior Iranian officials to discuss strengthening strategic relations.
This is Mekdad’s second visit to Iran since he assumed the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and his first under the new Iranian government headed by President Ebrahim Raisi.
According to the Iranian media, the delegation’s two-day visit will discuss strengthening the strategic relations between the two countries.
Mekdad’s arrival in Tehran coincides with the visit of UAE National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed al-Nahyan to Iran today.
Many wonder if the date of the two visits is a coincidence, or if there is a connection between them.
Tahnoun’s visit to Tehran came at the invitation of Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the semi-official news agency said on Sunday.
