DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Syrian security forces released a new batch of detainees in Syria’s south governorate of Daraa.
21 prisoners from Daraa were released in the Governmental Council hall, local sources told North Press.
Major General Mufid Hassan, Head of Security and Military Committee in the Southern Region, the governor of Daraa, head of the Security State Branch and other officers from the Russian Military Police attended the ceremony of the detainees’ release.
On November 23, the Syrian security forces discharged 25 detainees from Daraa.
In November, the Martyrs Documentation Office in Daraa, a local organization tasked with documenting identities and numbers of detainees, the dead, and the assassinations in the area, had documented the arrest of 71 people and the release of 31.
In a former statement to North Press, Muhammad al-Shara’a, member of the Documentation Office, said four people holding documents proving they settled their status were arrested in November but released later.
“Number of the detainees exceeds the documented ones given families of the detainees fear contacting the Documentation Office,” he said.
