Assad calls Bin Zayed, discusses cooperation with UAE

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad made a telephone call with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Emirate.

They dealt with enhancing the common cooperation in different aspects which serve the interests of both countries, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

Al-Assad and bin Zayed discussed developments in Syria and the Middle East, in addition to issues of common interests, WAM said.

On March 27, 2020, the first contact was made between bin Zayed and al-Assad since the outbreak of civil war in Syria in 2011.

On October 10, the United Arab Emirates announced that it had agreed with Syria government on future plans to enhance economic cooperation and explore new sectors.

The UAE Ministry of Economy twitted that the value of non-oil exchanges between the two countries in the first half of 2021 amounted to one billion dirhams ($272 million).
