QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Founding Conference of Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in NE Syria continued for the second day in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria.
On the second day of the conference, the participants started to make their suggestions and guests’ messages were read, whether inside or outside Syria. All of them stressed their direct support for this coalition.
“For a year, some organizations have been working on establishing this coalition, which has finally come into truth,” member of the founding body of the Demos Organization (local organization), Shiyar Youssef, said.
“The participating organizations and associations discussed the rules of procedures, and 15 members of the Board of Directors were elected,” Youssef added.
Youssef indicated that the goal of the coalition is to intensify the efforts of organizations and associations in the region, and to continue to provide what is best.
The goals of the coalition mainly focused on the advocacy for the issues of northeast Syria at the local, regional and international levels.
In his participation at the conference, the Director of Executive Projects for Wi’am Program, Alan Hassaf, noted to several key points that are being planned in the coalition’s mechanism of action.
The most important is “commitment to the democracy of work and equality among all civil society organizations and associations, taking into account the work of human rights, feminist and cultural organizations.”
A member of the Ishtar Organization, Jamal Anfous, said that the number of the Board of Directors, which includes 15 members, included five members from Deir ez-Zor, four from the Jazira region, four from the city of Raqqa and three from the Euphrates region.
Anfous stressed their insistence “to improve the service situation in northeast Syria in general, and to improve the deteriorating humanitarian situation in particular.”
