Syrians must be trained to fight: Turkish governor
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The United States and Russia are attempting to evacuate the residents of Idlib city, Seddar Yavuz, governor of the Turkish province of Kocaeli said on Monday.
“Syrians must be trained to fight alongside the Turkish army if needed,” Kocaeligazetesi news agency reported Yavuz.
The Kocaeli governor pointed out that up to 55,000 Syrian refugees live in the city, and they may fight with the Turkish army if they stayed in Turkey.
Media reports say that Turkey recruits the Syrians who live in Turkish-controlled areas and sends them to fight in different regions outside the Syrian territory.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said earlier that up to 530 fighters from the Turkish-backed Syrian opposition factions were transferred to Azerbaijan to fight alongside the Turkish army, so the total number amounts to 850 Syrian fighters.
