Government, opposition’s mutual bombing leaves wounded
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, several civilians and members were wounded as a result of mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions in the countryside of Idlib and Hama, northwestern Syria.
The government forces targeted civilians’ homes near the town of Kafr Amma, west of Aleppo, with heavy artillery shells, eyewitnesses told North Press.
“Six civilians, including children, were wounded to varying degrees in the government bombing,” according to eyewitnesses.
Meanwhile, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room targeted the government forces’ sites in al-Birka village, west of Hama, with rockets and heavy artillery shells, wounding several members, a military source of the Operations Room told North Press.
It also bombed the government forces near al-Malaja, south of Idlib, with shells and Katyusha rockets.
For months, areas in Syria’s northwest have been witnessing mutual shelling between parties to the conflict in different areas amid news on government military reinforcements to different areas in the region.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
