Villages in Syria’s Tel Tamr hit by Turkish forces

TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Turkish forces and affiliated armed opposition factions bombed four villages in the countryside of Tel Tamr town, north of Hasakah, northeast Syria.

The Assyrian villages of Tel Keifji, Tel Jum’a and Tel Shnan, in addition to the village of al-Dardara in the countryside of Tel Tamr, were hit this afternoon by heavy Turkish shelling with artillery and mortar shells, a source of the Tel Tamr Military Council told North Press.

Dozens of shells fell on the aforementioned villages, causing mass destruction of civilians’ homes.

The Turkish shelling comes two days after the aforementioned villages were targeted with missiles, which led to the displacement of villagers and the great destruction of infrastructure and power lines.

In addition, the Assyrian cemeteries in the village of Tel Shnan, east of Tel Tamr, were also destroyed in the shell.

The countryside of Tel Tamr includes about 33 Assyrian villages, five of which were almost fully emptied due to ISIS attacks and their location on the frontlines with the Turkish forces, according to the residents.

Most of the villages on the contact lines with the Turkish forces in the countryside of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, have become empty of residents due to the continuous bombardment.
