The US to stay in Syria: Ilham Ahmad

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The United States will remain in Syria to eliminate the Islamic State (ISIS) and build infrastructure, said  Ilham Ahmad, president of the Executive Committee of the Syria Democratic Council (SDC), considering that the US has made a clear commitment to the people of northeast Syria.

“They [U.S.] were clearly saying they would stay as long as the Islamic State presence persisted,” Ilham Ahmad told Reuters.

She added that the pledges of the American officials to “eliminate ISIS and build the infrastructure,” came during the meetings of the SDC delegation with the officials of the White House, the State Department and Department of Defense in Washington.

“We are pleased to see a positive approach from the US to find a solution to the problem in Syria, to end the tragedy of Syrian people,” she stressed.

The SDC top official considered that the US made a clear commitment after it was not during the Trump administration.
