Government forces bomb opposition factions in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, Syrian government forces bombed opposition factions’ sites in the countryside of Idlib and Hama, northwest Syria, causing material damage.
The government forces, stationed in Jurin camp, bombed the town of Duwair al-Akrad in the Ghab Plain area in the western countryside of Hama, with missiles and artillery shells, sources of the opposition factions told North Press.
The bombing resulted in property damage as it targeted residential neighborhoods, the sources added.
Similar shelling with heavy artillery and rocket launchers targeted the factions’ positions near the town of al-Fatira in the Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib.
Responding to the government shelling, al-Fateh Al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several factions, announced that it had targeted military points of the government forces near the village of al Malaja, south of Idlib, with heavy machine guns and mortar shells.
Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subject to a Russian-Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.
