Government forces meet with notables for settlement agreements in Syria’s Nawa
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday afternoon, a meeting was hold in the city of Nawa, in the western countryside of Daraa, between the Central Committee and notables of the city in order to reach an agreement between the two parties.
The security committee that is affiliated with the government forces demanded that the government forces enter to the city of Nawa in addition to handing over a number of light weapons, a source that attended the meeting told North Press on the condition of anonymity.
The source added that the meeting was held at the Rural Recovery Center and included Major General, Hossam Louka, and Brigadier General, Louay Al-Ali, from the Security Committee, a group of Russian officers, a number of the city notables and former leaders in Syrian opposition faction.
They all agreed to implement the outcomes of the meeting on Thursday and subject a number of young men to settlements with the attendance of officials of the Russian military police and notables of the city similar to the procedures implemented in Daraa al-Balad and the towns of the western countryside of Daraa, according to the source.
On Tuesday, the Syrian government forces entered the town of Tsil in the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa, accompanied by the Russian Military Police, the Central Committee and the town’s notables.
These steps come as a continuation of the agreement held in early September between the Central Committee and the government forces brokered by Russia.
Daraa was subjected to a suffocating siege imposed by pro-Iranian factions and the government forces for more than two months. Finally, an agreement was reached between the parties to the conflict under Russian auspices on a ceasefire and the entry of government forces into the besieged neighborhoods.
