Iranian-backed factions send reinforcements to Syria’s Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – More military reinforcements for Iranian-backed factions arrived in the western and northwestern countryside of Aleppo in the past two days.
The reinforcements, consisting of infantry members, military engineers, and anti-aircraft guns carried on vehicles, reached the town of Kafr Jum in the western countryside and to areas in the northwestern countryside of Aleppo in the vicinity of the towns of Nubl and al-Zahra’.
This will be the first batch of the military reinforcements, to be followed by others to the fighting fronts in the western and northern countryside of the governorate, in addition to the Saraqib area in Idlib, according to an opposition military source.
These areas, which the reinforcements have reached, are the contact lines with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly Jabhat al-Nusra), which controls Idlib and the western countryside of Aleppo.
“The Idlib battle is about to start, especially after the end of the Daraa battles in southern Syria,” Ali Rida Hamza,(a pseudonym), one of the field commanders in the Iranian-backed factions, told North Press.
He added that the forces that were sent are “attacking forces, some of which were brought from the al-Sukhna desert in Palmyra and some of southern Syria.”
Hamza pointed out that the battle of Idlib will be “one of the most intense battles if it starts soon, as they expect, given the presence of large numbers of forces affiliated with the HTS and the great Turkish support.”
He noted to the possibility that “Turkey will participate directly through Bayraktar drones, as happened at the beginning of 2019 in Saraqib, when our forces were directly attacked by Turkey via drones.”
“The military reinforcements from Iran will be huge and unprecedented, and will include areas extending from the southern countryside of Idlib to the western and northwestern countryside of Aleppo, where the contact lines with the Turkish-backed opposition factions lie,” Hamza stated.
The Iranian penetration in Aleppo started late in July 2012, by supporting the towns of Nubul and Zahra’, in Aleppo northern countryside, when the Turkish-backed armed factions took over all the villages and towns of the Aleppo countryside. Both towns became a gathering point of members of the government forces that withdrew from the other villages.
