Crisis Management Team imposes lockdown on Syria’s Jazira region
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Crisis Management Team of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) imposed a complete lockdown for a week on the Jazira region, northeast Syria, starting from Saturday.
“A total lockdown will be imposed on the Jazira region for seven days, starting from Sunday morning, 25/9/2021 at 6:00 a.m., until Friday 1/10/2021,” the Crisis Management Team published on its official website.
Deputy co-chair of the AANES’s Health Board Berivan Darwish told North Press that the decision was reached following an urgent meeting between the Crisis Management Team and the Health Board on Wednesday.
On September 4, the AANES issued a decision preventing all types of big gatherings such as condolence tents, conferences and marches.
Darwish added that they approved to impose a total lockdown, starting on Saturday, on all areas of the Jazeera region, for a period of one week, “which can be extended.”
