Government delegation visits Syria’s Tafas
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a government delegation visited the city of Tafas, in the western countryside of Daraa, south Syria.
Governor of Daraa Maj. Gen. Marwan Ibrahim Sharbak, police chief of the governorate Dirar Dandal, and member of the People’s Assembly Ahmed Suwaydan visited the city on Wednesday morning and met residents there, local sources told North Press.
The government delegation, accompanied by the Russian military police, visited a number of public facilities and schools in the city and saw the service conditions there, the sources added.
The delegation held a meeting with residents of the city in a al-‘Iz palace hall following their tour and promised to improve the service reality, the sources told North Press.
This visit is the first of its kind days after the agreement that was reached between the Central Committee in the western region and the government forces in Tafas city in the western countryside of Daraa.
On September 16, a Russian-brokered agreement was reached between tribal notables and the Central Committee in the western region and the security committee of the government forces in Tafas city.
The agreement allowed the government forces to enter the city accompanied by Russian military police, install several checkpoints in the city, conduct inspection campaigns in the neighborhoods of Tafas, and subject a number of wanted individuals to settlements in addition to handing over their light weapons.
