New checkpoints, new settlements held west of Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, local sources told North Press that dozens of residents of the town of Muzayrib, in the western countryside of Daraa, have had their conditions settled, with many of them handing over a number of light weapons.

On Wednesday, groups affiliated with Syrian government forces and security apparatuses entered the town of Muzayrib accompanied by Russian military police, following an agreement between the parties to the conflict under the Russian auspices for a ceasefire.

A settlement center was established in the council of Muzayrib town in order to have the conditions of several residents settled.

Government forces, accompanied by Russian military police, searched some houses in the town, the sources added.

Residents of the town said that the government forces stationed at al-Duwar checkpoint, east of Masakin Jalin, after their withdrawal from it last year. They also placed some armored vehicles and dozens of soldiers there.

Al-Duwar checkpoint, in the western countryside of Daraa, is a link between the city of Tafas and the towns of the Yarmouk Basin area in the western countryside of Daraa.
