800 daily coronavirus PCR tests: Syrian Ministry of Health

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A source in the Ministry of Health of the Syrian government said on Thursday that the ministry daily conducts about 800 PCR tests to detect coronavirus in government laboratories, 600 of which are for travelers and 200 of which are for patients in Syria.

He said in a statement to the pro-government al-Watan newspaper that the percentage of positive tests for travelers reaches 2%.

On August 9, head of the Syrian government Hussein Arnous issued a decision that stipulated setting a service allowance for granting an approved certificate document to prove receiving the necessary doses of the coronavirus vaccine, which costs of 20 SYP ($ 6).

He stressed that the traveler has the right to repeat the test again after 15 days, and it is free of charge.

The total toll of coronavirus infections in areas held by the Syrian government reached 26,554 cases, including 1,947 deaths and 22,202 recoveries.

On Wednesday, the media office of the Ministry of Health of the Syrian government recorded 75 new coronavirus infections, 19 recoveries, and five deaths in its areas of control.
