IDPs establish youth gathering at Syria’s Palmyra in Rukban Camp
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Displaced people from the city of Palmyra living in the Syrian Rukban Camp on the Syrian-Jordanian border announced on Monday the formation of a civil gathering for the youth of the city of Palmyra in the camp.
This came in a video statement posted on social media, saying that the gathering is “a civilian body” and it will serve the camp’s residents, who are suffering from miserable conditions in light of the interruption of relief aid from the United Nations and amid the siege imposed by government and Russian forces.
The camp sits in a small pocket near the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS’ base at al-Tanf, in a deconfliction area controlled primarily by the US-backed Maghweir al-Thawra (Revolutionary Commando Army) opposition group.
The gathering will consist of offices of women and children, in addition to offices of education, health, media, relief coordination, civil status and others, the statement added.
The gathering is not affiliated with any political or military party, not even the tribal councils, according to the announcers of its establishment in the camp.
The statement called on the Global Coalition to take care of the camp, and called on the people of Palmyra to help them.
