IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, a child lost his life and four others from the same family were wounded as a result of an explosion that rocked their house in the town of Taftanaz, east of Idlib, northwest Syria.
“The 13-year-old Jum’a Da’boul died and four others of the same family were wounded as a result of an unknown explosion inside their house,” a resident from the town told North Press.
“The wounded, who got critical wounds, were transferred to hospitals near the border; however the casualty number may increase,” the source added.
Sources in Taftanaz town attributed the explosion to a grenade or other weapons, amid lack of accurate information on the causes so far.
Meanwhile, areas held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) and other opposition factions are witnessing broad spread of weapons among military individuals and civilians.
Almost every house in Idlib has weapons and ammunition amidst a state of insecurity and increasing assassination attempts, according to local sources.
Early in 2021, a person was killed and others were wounded as a result of an explosion in an arm store in al-Jala’ Street in the city center of Idlib.
On March 11, five people lost their lives and others were wounded as a result of an explosion in a quarry west of Idlib.
