Politician in Syria’s Manbij calls for global recognition of Autonomous Administration
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a female politician in the city of Manbij, north Syria, called for an international recognition of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) considering it “the only solution towards liberation.”
“Liberating the city of Manbij from the Islamic State (ISIS) was a major turn in Manbij history in particular, and for the Syrian crisis in general,” Azab al-Aboud, head of the Future Syria Party – Manbij branch, said.
On August 15, 2016 ISIS was expelled from Manbij after battles between it and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) supported by the US-led Global Coalition.
“Liberating Manbij was the first spark for liberating other areas including Tabqa, Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor,” an-aboud added.
On November6, 2016, the SDF, in participation with the Global Coalition forces, launched a military campaign named “Euphrates Anger”, which lasted for 11 months, to expel ISIS from Raqqa and Tabqa.
“During the past five years, Manbij has witnessed an urban and intellectual renaissance with the enthusiasm of its people, who were able to unite and succeed to embrace the idea of coexistence through brotherhood of peoples,” she noted.
The aforementioned fulfilled issues in the city do not match with Turkey that has been trying to let the city to live in fear and chaos, according to the politician.
Al-Aboud pointed out that the continuous Turkish shelling of the northern frontlines of Manbij is aimed at sowing fear and terror among civilians and prolong the war.
Two days ago, the Turkish forces and Turkish-backed armed factions targeted the village of al-Hoshariya, northeast of Manbij, with machine guns.
The head of the Future Syria Party – Manbij branch, Azab al-Aboud called on the international community for quick steps toward a peaceful solution in Syria to stop killing, devastation and occupation of Syrian areas under the pretext of countering terrorism.
