Mass strike in Syria’ Daraa in solidarity with besieged neighborhoods
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, cities, towns and villages in Daraa, south Syria, witnessed a mass strike following a call by local activists to stand by the Daraa al-Balad and the Tariq al-Sad neighborhood and the IDPs camps which have been besieged by the government forces and pro-Iranian militias for more than 47 days.
“The strike has come in solidarity with the residents of Daraa al-Balad and the besieged neighborhoods amid lack of living necessities there,” a local source from the town of al-Kark told North Press.
“The strike, which started today will last till tomorrow, and the peaceful activity will continue till the siege of Daraa al-Balad and the other neighborhoods is lifted,” the source added.
Yesterday, activists inside and outside Syria launched a Hashtag campaign on social media under the title #Daraa_Under_Siege, to shed light on the suffering of the residents of Daraa and to demand an end to the siege.
The source pointed out that the percentage of commitment to the strike were not the same in all the cities and villages of Daraa, as some cities and towns witnessed a full strike, such as Tafas, Nawa, al-Harak, al-Kark al-Sharqi and Tasil.
