Seven killed in government’s shelling on Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday at dawn, seven civilians, including three children and a woman, were killed in artillery and missile shelling carried out by the Syrian government forces, south of Idlib, northwest Syria.

The government forces bombed houses in the town of Iblin, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery and rockets, local sources told North Press.

The bombing killed seven civilians, including three children and a woman, and wounded seven others, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Civil Defense (White Helmets) announced that the government forces targeted the town with laser-guided Krasnopol artillery.

Opposition military sources said that the village of al-Maghara in the Zawiya Mountain was subjected to artillery and missile shelling by government forces from their positions at the surrounding checkpoints.

Late on Wednesday, the Turkish-backed armed factions announced targeting members of the government forces in the city of Kafr Nabl with a guided missile, according to the same sources.

For months, the countryside of Idlib has been witnessing an escalation and exchange of shelling between the government forces and pro-Turkish factions, resulting in casualties and the displacement of hundreds of residents.
