Shelling renews between Syrian government, Turkish-backed factions in Idlib, Hama
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, de-escalation zone, northwest Syria, witnessed renewal of the mutual shelling between Damascus government forces and Turkish-backed armed factions.
Government forces shelled the fortifications of the armed factions in the villages and towns of Sufuhun, al-Fatira, Fleifel, Binin, and Urum al-Jawz in Zawiya Mountain, south Idlib, with artillery shells and rocket launchers, military sources from the factions told North Press.
As a result of the shelling, three individuals said to be civilians were wounded in the town of Urum al-Jawz and were transferred to a medical center for treatment, the sources added.
Additionally, government forces stationed in Jurin Camp targeted posts of the armed factions in the towns of Kulaidan and al-Enkawi with mortars, according to the same sources.
The shelling coincided with intensive flight by Russian warplanes and drones over the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Latakia reporting no airstrikes, the sources indicated.
Meanwhile, al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) and other armed factions, announced that they targeted several posts of the government forces in the towns of Shathah, Jurin, al-Burkan, and Barakeh in Ghab Plain, west Hama countryside.
As a result of intensifying shelling against populated areas, dozens of families are fleeing villages and areas in Zawiya Mountain, causing a new displacement wave there.
